Does anyone know what this rash is?

My DS keeps getting this rash, a few times a year. Some days it's worse than others. I'm not sure it's impetigo because there aren't any golden scabs. Gp won't see him. It's not ichy or bothering him. Any ideas?

Can you email that photo to the gp?

Legoandloldolls · 15/10/2020 09:38

If you have emailed the photos to the gp and repeatedly get nowhere you can ask to be referred to dermatology. I have done this for my dd exzama this year.

But I think it looks like impetigo. It looks crusty in places

Ginandplatonic · 15/10/2020 09:43

Looks like impetigo to me too, but not sure that would come and go?

Why won’t the GP see him??

notanotheronepleasee · 15/10/2020 09:46

I would of thought it can't be impetigo if it goes away on its own?

Is it a dribble rash? My baby gets similar and it comes and goes. Although it's a smaller area than that

NeedHelpDs · 15/10/2020 09:52

0thanks everyone. Ds was in school when I phoned and because this picture was taken 2 days ago, the gp didn't want to see it.

I suppose it could be a dribble rash but he dribbles all the time (being assessed for asd/adhd) and only gets the rash a few times a year.

I just wanted to see what others thought as when I googled Impetigo, it doesn't look quite the same as the pictures online.

Dribble rash might only come if it's freezing cold out and it's wet on the skin? Not sure.

Does it always go away on its own?

Could be bad eczema. Have you tried an aqueous cream?

StargazyDrifter · 15/10/2020 09:56

Have a look also at perioral dermatitis online:

www.skinsight.com/skin-conditions/child/perioral-of-childhood-dermatitis

I had this during lockdown (as an adult) and the GP eventually gave me antibiotics for a month, because nothing else like moisturiser creams and gentle face washes helped. Went away within 3 weeks on antibiotics and hasn’t come back again. Certainly worth asking the question.

Agree with others that he should be seen/photos reviewed.

Ginandplatonic · 15/10/2020 10:11

Well that’s pretty crap of the GP. Try to find a better GP?? It really needs a doctor to look at it in real life and take a history to figure it out.

NeedHelpDs · 15/10/2020 11:05

@StargazyDrifter I'm like 90% sure that what it is looking at that link! We went away this weekend and used a different toothpaste that we sometimes switch between so that could be what's causing it! Thank you!
