11 yo getting electric shock feelings

She's reported this for a few weeks now. Wakes up in the morning with electric shock feelings that run from her head to feet or sometimes in her head only. She says sometimes they run into her arms.

I did a bit of reading and now scared myself with concerns about myoclonic seizures.

Does anyone have experience here ? Think I probably need to talk to a GP but before then any advice please ?

You need an urgent referral for this, I suspect. Is it down one side or both?

purringpaws · 14/10/2020 22:12

I am not sure, she hasn't said that specifically

She's gone to bed now and I'm trying not to ask her leading questions but will ask again in the morning.

It’s important to know... the doctor will ask.

GP not worried particularly.

Do you have an answer on the one side or both sides question, as it definitely sounds neurological in nature to me and I WOULD be concerned. (Everything is very Covid-focused atm, and this worries me.)

purringpaws · 15/10/2020 10:53

Said she it wasn't really particular to either side. Down the middle is what she said.

I know what you mean about covid focus...

She has history of anxiety and I think that overshadows the possibility of it being anything else... I totally get anxiety can present in many ways but this feels different.

We will monitor for a week and go back if needed for f2f review.

Please be on the look out for new or increased headaches, drowsiness or nausea/vomiting. If you see any facial tics or repetitive muscle spasms, or think she seems to be “spacing out” during unusual times, please take her straight to A&E. (Also if there are any changes to her gait that you notice.) I hope it’s nothing, but mums know best.

Thank you for posting. I will watch out for those things
