Dt2's legs aren't straight?

I noticed tonight when dt2 11 was standing ing back to back comparing heights with dd2 that his legs aren't straight. It looks like he's bending at the knee?
Any ideas ? Should I get this checked?

What is the issue ?

BoudiccasBoudoir · 06/10/2020 21:45

The person on the right has good posture and a slight bend at the knee. This shows that there back is in alignment. The person on the left has slightly hyperextended knees. This could be due to hyper mobile joints or a curved spine. Can also be because of female hormones which can cause the ligaments to become looser. Or 'text neck'

Both are probably grand, but the person on the rights posture is much better

Does he play a lot of football?

LargeGlassofRed · 06/10/2020 21:56

Thanks for the reply's he doesn't play much sport, they just looked slightly bent to me and when he's sat down with legs outstretched this knees don't look fully straight.

Tight hamstrings maybe?

BoudiccasBoudoir · 06/10/2020 21:58

It's meant to be a bit bent

The one in left is straightening to get balance and hyperextending as was said. Does she complain of joint pain?

TreaterAnita · 06/10/2020 22:10

I think that the difference is that the child on the right has a straight back and hips in line with heels which results in a slightly bent knee (as in the above diagram) whereas the child on the left appears to be leaning forward slightly, but I’m not sure if that’s correct because of how the photo is cropped. I’d be more concerned about the posture of the child on the left tbh, if that’s them standing with a straight back.

Obviously it's impossible to tell without seeing the upper body, but very straight looking lower Half would usually mean a curved spine and bad posture, whereas a slight bend of the knee and standing more on the balls than heels of the feet usually means a straighter spine and good posture.

Of course, the first example in that image has bent knees and terrible spinal curvature, but the feet are different. You want a soft knee, and to be able to see the arch of the foot slightly

Hypermobility

CorianderLord · 06/10/2020 22:49

Could just be right hamstrings

CorianderLord · 06/10/2020 22:50

Although now I look at my legs they're always a bit bent too so I think they're meant to be
