To save me panic Googling any longer - has anyone's DC had a "pointy" bit of gum where their new adult tooth is pushing up? At first it looked like part of the tooth but it is soft and red, so I think it must be swollen gum. Google led me to eruption gingivitis and then reading if serious/painful and untreated it could turn into an abscess with a fever, swollen lymph nodes etc. (And fever = self isolation at the moment).
None of the pictures look quite like what she has. Not the right shape or colour. It's not purple like a cyst.
DD is 5, it's one of the new molars erupting at the back. The gum was slightly raised for months. All of a sudden today she pointed into her mouth because something felt funny, and I saw the pointed bit. No picture currently sorry. This fortnight she's had the odd sore throat, headache etc, then tonight she slept before eating which is very unlike her. I thought it was a long week or a cold coming, but now I think it could all be down to the tooth coming.
She went to sleep again with just teething gel, not Calpol, so I suppose the pain isn't that bad at the moment? I tried to brush it gently (after reading bacteria can get in etc). She had sweets and a sugary pudding before we saw this. :( The molar on the other side came half through and then the rest, nothing like this.
Do we need to see a dentist or doctor? I hope it looks less freaky in the morning.
