Hi. Our DD is having tests for precocious puberty and is going for her first hormone injection. Has anyone had any experience with decapeptyl?

Thank you

Hi @PK1975, how old is your DD? Sorry I have no advice, but have recently been offered this for DD2 who is now 8. Not sure what to do. How did the injection go?

PK1975 · 26/09/2020 07:49

My daughter was offered it at 8. We refused. She's 10y4m now and though she is developed she hasn't begun her period yet. It's a personal and individual decision but I'm glad we didn't medicate

Yup. My dd was on it for over 7 years. Feel free to pm me.

Hope it goes well for your DD @PK1975.

@dippyegg32, your post is reassuring. DD2 has been offered this and she's 8. Ideally, i would prefer not to medicate as, at 8, I'm not sure the benefits are significant. Worried about regretting this and then it being too late to do anything. Do you mind if I ask how tall your DD was when treatment was offered, and how tall she is now? Has she coped OK with all of the physical changes?

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread!

dippyegg32 · 26/09/2020 21:21

@cloudcett no problem. Dd has always been tall. Since birth she's tracked 91-98th centile. Afraid I can't remember her height at 8 when we first saw the endocrinologist but she's now 10y4m and 5'1/5'2. She has six monthly pelvic ultrasounds and blood tests just to monitor but she's just fine.

Thanks @dippyegg32, glad to hear your DD is doing so well. My DD isn't particularly tall, but then neither am I or DH so this isn't surprising. But it does mean that I'm a bit worried about her adult height being even shorter if we don't have the treatment. Its really hard to know what to do for the best!

Fwiw I'm 5'4 and my husband 5'10
