Broken Elbow - help me risk assess

DD is 8 and had a nasty fracture 8 weeks ago.

She had surgery immediately, got some kwires/pins and cast. We removed the final cast 14 days ago and I'm terrified.

She's regaining mobility slowly but surely and not in any pain, but I lost all ability not risk assess. We're also getting physio.

Throughout the treatment, her consultant kept stressing the importance of not letting her fall and I keep thinking she'll fall and damage the injured bone again.

She's also non-verbal and on the spectrum and LIVES for the outdoors. Every single activity she likes fills me with dread.

Horse riding
In line skating
Dirt bikes in the forest
Playparks

The last few weeks were tough in terms of keeping her entertained and I don't want her to be miserable, but I'm so scared.

How likely is she to reinjure her arm? How conservative should we be?

I think play parks for the moment is the best and safest on your list. As much as you want to you can't wrap her in bubble wrap and keep her safe sadly but try for a few more weeks till the bones are much stronger and then leave her go free again. I know it's hard but kids are kids this is how they learn

I broke my elbow as a child. It took a long time to heal, and I couldn’t do a lot of the things I liked for a good while. (Including a lot of things on your list). It’s tough, but you’re probably going to have to find other things for a while.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I just wonder if that particular bone will be more fragile and for how long!

Guess it's sedate activities for the foreseeable future.
