Toddler rash and temperature??

LO has been bunged up for over about 2 weeks now and had a v high temp (up to 39.6) since early hours Thursday up until yesterday, it gradually got lower with regular doses of calpol and ibuprofen. He didn't have a temp today and had been ok until after his morning nap, I noticed he had a rash on his face and his back (I have uploaded a pic). It seems to have gone down slightly but he had been very lethargic all day and very clingy and went to bed a lot early than normal. I have just checked on him and noticed he was a little warm, checked his temperature and it is raised again at 38.5. He's sound asleep in just a vest and pj bottoms so I didn't want to wake him up to give him calpol as he's been so exhausted all day. Is the rash normal and the temp going up again? So worried! I did call the GP earlier and was advised someone would call back but they never!

Have you done the glass test on the rash (press a glass on it and see if it disappears)?

Yep that was the first thing I did when I saw it, it disappears when pressed

That looks like a rash DD (22 months) had a couple of weeks ago. She wasn't otherwise unwell though. I took her to see a prescribing pharmacist and he said it looked like a post viral rash and that little ones get them all the time. He said if she started to feel ill then take her back/to a gp but otherwise not to worry.

If you can't get a dr appointment tomorrow could you find a pharmacy to take him to? Hope he feels better soon.

I'm going to call the GP at 8 when they open, he's still very lethargic today and whingey. Temp is still high :(

I had this so many times with my youngest, obviously seek medical advice, but on all occasions they called it hives caused by what a pp said , a reaction to a virus. Hope your little one gets better soon, I know full well the “fear” thankfully now she’s 4 it’s less frequent.
