Daughters surgery cancelled

Hi! I’m new here. I don’t know if anyone will know the answer to this, but I will ask anyway. Someone might?
My daughter (Toddler) has a Medical condition which affects one Of her hands. She was due to have her first op/ surgery at the beginning of this year. Before COVID-19. This was Unfortunately cancelled. I understand cancellations happens. The hospital had already cancelled once before in the fall of 2019. However, this time the explanation given didn’t seem right to me. The reason - that there was no paediatric anaesthetist for my daughters surgery. The email was sent 4 weeks before my daughters surgery was due. Wouldn’t this amount of time give the hospital time to find another paediatric anaesthetist for the surgery, or wouldn’t agency staff be used under these circumstances?
Thank you for reading

Maybe they only have one in that hospital, other was off on long term sick or something. I don’t think it’s the type of role that there are normally agency staff. Could you complain to theIr complaints department/ the local nhs board ?

Hey, thanks for your reply. You could be right, maybe their reason was legit.

There is more to this story though. In short - My ex partner and I split up last year. Been through the courts to get access to my daughter. Courts granted this.

Ex threw everything at me to try and stop all contact between my daughter and I. Thankfully the courts saw through all this. It’s been a tough year. And I wouldn’t wish my experience upon any other person.

Anyway getting back to the hospital, and my daughters operation - the date the operation was going to be was during my time with my daughter. My ex wasn’t happy about this, and I believe convinced the hospital to cancelled the operation with the excuse stated before in my last post.

Also 1 week after the email was sent, I received a call from the surgeon herself. She did not even mention the absence of anaesthetist, however, said it was Probably best to postpone the operation as my daughter wouldn’t always take pain relief.

What do you think? Plausible or not?

Also, I sent an email recently to the surgeons secretary to see if my daughters operation could now be considered (COVID-19 still present) I haven’t had any communication with the hospital since the beginning of this year.

The surgeons secretary has now moved departments.

The secretary did say that the email that I had sent has been passed on still to my daughters surgeon. The secretary also said - I know and remember your daughters case well.
Really? Why?
The secretary must read and send thousands of patients information all the time.
My daughter hasn’t even had any surgery yet
