Tongue tied!!

I need help urgently! I have an appointment booked tomorrow for my 5 month old son to get his tongue tied lasered. He has no issues eating (I purely breastfeed) . But I booked it because his daddy is worried about a speech impediment and his comfortability. After watching some videos on it being done I don't know if the benefits out way the trauma. I feel like if he's 3 or 4 (and needs it) I can explain that he needs it and it'll be a lot less scary. Any one ever had this problem? Or any opinions? I just don't see the point I. Hurting him if we don't know that it will effect him, sometimes tongue tied cause no issues! Thank in advance!

Have they said what % ties it is?

No, but it goes from the very tip of his tongue the doctors were surprised that he feeds very well.

My son had his done at about a week old as it was impacting feeding etc but it did only take seconds, bled for a couple mins, and he was back to normal 5 mins later. I understand it's different when they're 5 months though.

I would say that if it's quite extensive then it's less traumatic to have it done now when he won't remember it personally.

Did you get it cut or lasered? They won't even let me in the room, they just want to take him in for 15 minutes and then bring him back so I can feed!

My two had theirs cut not lasered - one at a month or so and the other a couple of weeks old. They were both back to normal within minutes afterwards. I would definitely get it done to avoid a speech impediment later.

My ds has it done at 2 weeks and I'm so glad I did, as he went through a sticking his tongue out stage at around 6 months and I always was so grateful he could do that, as may have been hindered if I hadn't had it cut.

However I appreciate its more scary as your baby is 5 months. I would say its worth getting done, only takes a couple of seconds then baby is placed straight on your boob so hopefully this will comfort him quickly and it'll all be forgotten. I imagine it'll only be more difficult as baby gets older too?

Cut not lasered and I wasn't allowed in the room either, but he was honestly gone far less than 15 mins! He then fed straIght away and was fine.
