Any ideas on what this is?

Until I can get my son to the drs, does anyone know what this could be? It's on his chest, back, neck and into his hair/on his scalp. It's a yellowy colour. Has developed over the last week, was on his neck a few days ago and he's shown me the rest this morning.

Maybe something fungal or does he get eczema as there is one that looks similar to ringworm?

Cake7 · 01/08/2020 11:52

He had a short period of eczema when he was small and in the family his uncle has severe eczema and 3 generations have seborrheic dermatitis. When I first noticed it, it was on his scalp but has suddenly spread. No one else in the family has anything like it.

Discoid eczema can look like ringworm which is what it maybe looks like. Maybe see gp or a pharmacist

Phone the pharmacist and see if you can bring him down? Or just turn up? I’m not sure if the rules now! Defo worth doing something if poss.

Could be Pityriasis rosea. Harmless but annoying and did make me feel tired for a bit (or maybe I got it because I was run down). Does he have one bigger patch?

Cake7 · 01/08/2020 13:11

I'm going to try and see if a pharmacist can have a look if not il book an appointment Monday for the drs.

He has a thick patch behind his ear that's solid rather than patchy. To look at it's not red just a yellowy colour and not itchy etc and he feels well.

It looks like pityriasis versicolour to me. You treat it with a medicated shampoo (Selsun shampoo from pharmacy) which you spread on skin and let it dry , leave on overnight.
