Was this an asthma attack?

I’ve been wondering about asthma for my daughter for a while- she’s under 5 so not been tested. Yesterday, she woke up looking very grey, pale lips and tired, said her tummy hurt and she was breathing faster than normal (up to around 38) and you could see her tummy moving and she was working much harder than normal to breathe. She then fell back asleep but when she came back to breakfast, she had some water but then was sick everywhere.

I don’t know if she’s just got a bug or if the vomiting was a consequence of her breathing being a bit harder. She’s been fine since.

It kinda does sound like it I would have called toe to or even an ambulance so you have it documented so you can get her tested or ask them to test her anyway..

Difficult when they're so young but I think 5 is old enough to get tested. My DS was actually diagnosed at 2 although it wasn't confirmed until later.

She would have to be able to blow as hard as she could into a puffometer (not the correct name). It might be worth getting her allergy tested as well.
Other symptoms to look out for are shoulders going up and down when breathing and a night time cough.

@rach2713 There's no point in calling an Ambulance "to have it documented" that's not what the ambulance service is there for it's not a check you over service!

On another note may be croup? Does your DD have Asthma? If it's settled now call your GP Monday if not you can go to your local A&E or walk in centre

I know fine well what a ambulance is for and I can tell you if any of my children are grey looking pale lips tired and finding it hard to breathe I would be calling an ambulance and contacting my gp to get them checked and something sorted. I have asthma so I know fine well how serious it can get and how fast it can go down hill with out treatment. And what I ment is the more info op has the easier it is to get the right help needed for her child..

Thank you all. I’ve contacted the GP to ask for a review. She’s fine now but it just seemed very odd. I don’t think she’s had a sickness bug as she’s not been off her food and hasn’t been poorly. My other child is prone to viral wheeze so I’ve been used to monitoring her, giving an inhaler etc but the older one took me a bit by surprise this morning.
