Ahhhh - worms

HELP!

All three of my children have worms. I have shone a torch in their bums and they all have them crawling round their anus and my daughter had them around her vagina.

I’m (not unusually) NOT ok with this. We have wormed them all, my husband and I.

How long until the ovax or whatever it’s called starts working? Will they still be there tomorrow?

We have shared towels for yonks and never caught it. How has this happened? Off to buy 10 beach towels tomorrow so every family member has two of the same type.

In the meantime since googling and seeing them in real life I can’t stop thinking about them. How will I sleep tonight?

One of my daughters is SEN and has language delays and sensory issues. For the last few weeks when she’s been in the garden running round naked sometimes she stops and looks at her bits, we thought it was a weird quirk, and have been trying to get her to stop and put pants on etc, but now I’m worried that she’s been itching and it’s the worms. I’ve seen a lot of her poo (potty training) and never seen them In there.

Is my house a huge egg fest. I feel like I want to move out.

Do you think they have all had them for yonks?

Read the instructions in the ovex pack carefully. You all need a second dose in acouple of weeks.
Mesnwhile you hsve to deep clean your house and wash all bedding and towels. Everyone needs short, clean nails. Everyone needs to wear pants in bed.
No cup sharing, no nose poking, no bottom scratching.
Wash all fruit and veg thoroughly.
Read the nhs website.

I’m going to cut the nails tomorrow. I’m worried this is going to be impossible to get rid of

We have done all the other things. How
Many nights do I need change sheets for? We are a pretty clean family. I have to
Admit we have shared towels.

Op I have no experience of worms so not even sure why I clicked on this thread (!) but I did have bed bugs and totally freaked out. Nearly lost my mind over it and couldn't eat or sleep for ages. I'm a clean person with a clean house - hence my overreaction. So I just wanted to say keep it together - you will get rid of them!

It will be fine. Worms are very common. If your dc haven't been to school or nursery they will have got them from unwashed fruit.
When they are at nursery they get them from the play dough or the sand pit. Or the shared fruit plate.
Just go round the house, hoover, dust and wash everything.
The second dose of ovex is the most important thing. The eggs are in the dust, towels and bedding.
Once you have washed and cleaned everything you should be fine.

Worms are easier to deal with than nits IME.

They’re gross aren’t they. My 3 year old got them from preschool. He told me he had an itchy bum and I treated him the same day so I’m hoping I caught it early. He had one more night of itchy bum and was fine after that so hopefully won’t take long.
Yes wash all bedding, Hoover, cut nails. You’re doing all the right things. I tell my children if they ever get an itchy bum they have to tell me straight away.

I have never ever worried about germs or sick bugs, I’ve always felt that they are around and can’t be helped. I’d never avoid playgroups people soft plays etc. Now I don’t want them going anywhere or touching anything. I feel like there are microscopic eggs all over the house. They always take their clothes off and have been dropping eggs round the house. My daughter has been sitting on the sofa in her nightie.

We are clean people. They girls sleep in a nappy and then take it off when they have milk in the morning. Is there any hope?

The older two have been at preschool. They must have brought it back with them.

@Cuddling57 how long before you resumed a sound mental state. I’ve heard the eggs live for 2-3 weeks. We are going on holiday in two weeks and I’m thinking about shutting off the playroom until then.

Calm down!!! they're just worms - just as common as nits!!!! Just give them the tablet, and another dose in two weeks. Wash bedding, clothes and towels, cut nails. Spray dettol over everything if you really want to. Done. They will be gone. Really no need for that level of hysteria!!!!!!
