Macerated skin under plaster - should I call Dr?

Hi,

The other day my 5yo asked for a plaster for tiny cut. I popped one on and completely forgot about it. She's been in the bath and paddling pool, plus washing her hands lot.

This morning she's in tears saying how painful it is. The plaster is off and the skin is all white and wrinkly. I've had that before and it gets better however it has never hurt...She's really upset and won't bend it. Do you think I need to get medical advice or will it sort itself out?

It should itself-she’s prob just upset because of how it looks

Thanks, she was upset before I took the plaster off so it is genuinely painful. She's distracted by tv at the moment so I guess that's a good sign.

Doesn't sound serious to me. If it was infected it would be red and swollen. The skin needs to harden so the wound is less painful because then it will move less, it's so soft that's why she's feeling pain imo. I'd keep an eye on it and if it's no better in a day or two consider outside help then. I think you'll soon see improvement and you can reassure her the body is doing it's job of healing.

Where is the cut?

I think the skin is smarting from taking it off. White and wrinkly doesn't hurt.

I think in a while she'll forget it. It just needs to be open and return to normal,
