DS 12 years old seems to be depressed

We were supposed to be relocating to the UK in June. I've spent several months talking to my two sons about it. We were planning to take a two week holiday at a Waterpark before we left. My 12-year-old has his birthday in July and we'd been planning to Laser quest. I had been talking to them both about the move and trying to talk about positive things that they will be doing when we get there. They had accepted the move and were finally looking forward to it. We now won't be moving over until November due to Covid-19 and our house not being ready.

Obviously, in March, Covid-19 hit and schools shut earlier that in the UK.
We live on the outskirts of a city and it is a place that is very difficult to social distance, the number of cases is pretty high too so we've been staying at home. The last couple of days my 12-year-old has said that he just feels sad and has no idea why. Yesterday, he lay on his bed all afternoon crying silent tears. Today he is pretty much the same. He's been doing schoolwork but looks on the verge of tears. I've asked him if anything is worrying him or if something has upset him. He has assured me there is nothing wrong but that he just feels terribly sad inside.

Do you think he is falling into a depression? Has anyone else experienced this with their children during lockdown? He has actually been quite happy up until now. He's quite a quiet boy and is good at keeping himself occupied but he just seems so sad. This is the first time it has happened since lockdown.

He has accepted all the changes to our plans without complaint but I am wondering whether the lack of something to look forward to is wearing him down.
