Hi OP, was she breastfed or bottle fed? Cou6it be lactose intolerance or formula intolerance? What has the GP said so far? Is she on any medication? Is she under a paediatrician? If not you need to push for her to be. How is she with her milestones? Has she had an allergy test? How is her sleep and behaviour? You need to push more and be prepared to complain and fight for her.

Have you tried cutting dairy out? I know you say you don't think it's that as she doesn't get sick after dairy every time but I'm lactose intolerant, it was discovered when I was 5 but prior to that I'd had milk on cereal, loved cheese and yogurts and cream but other than the cereal didn't have much or very often so I was fine until I started school and started having cereal more often for breakfast as it was quick and then a large glass of milk at school break time and then normally a milky pudding at school lunch like custard or rice pudding or ice cream and it was just too much dairy for me. I could cope with small amounts but not as much as I was getting. I missed a lot of school. Once we figured it out I swapped drinking milk for juice or water and used soya milk on cereal but kept eating cheese and yogurts etc and my problems went away!

As I've grown up my tolerance has improved and I don't use the dairy free milks often but I just naturally pace myself if I have cereal for breakfast I wouldn't then have a milkshake with lunch because I don't want to get sick. I don't even think about it as such.

Emmagen · 23/06/2020 22:56

I didn't get much help from doctors either, they said it was school avoidance. I loved school at 5!

Hi op, my daughter was just the same. She would vomit several times a day as a small baby. Nobody took me seriously. GP said "all babies are sick, some babies are sick a lot" not very helpful. Tried several different types of formula, no difference. It stopped us going out because she would just be sick everywhere. If we did go out I would need to take several changes of clothes for her and for myself! One health visitor said it would stop when we weaned her but it made no difference. She turned 1 and it continued. Saw another health visitor who said it would stop when she started walking, as her tummy wouldn't always be "squashed" as it was when she was sat all the time. She started walking at 14 months and it just stopped! As she got older she started to complain of tummy pain, and after several GP appointments they eventually prescribed her ranitidine, which really helped. She's 9 now and no longer needs any medication, so seems to have grown out of it. I really hope it resolves soon for you, I remember how difficult it was.

This is a long shot, but does anyone who smokes have contact with her? Apparently I puked a lot as a baby and toddler and mum noticed I was better away from cigarette smells (both my parents smoked). As a teenager it triggered allergies and I was always motion sick. Now it creates a very mild gagging reflex if I pass someone in the street who is smoking.
I think it is more likely to be lactose or dairy though and they you'd need to eliminate both long-term and consistently to rule them out. Although she gets sick at other times, she may just have a sensitive stomach now.
Have you ever been told by the doctor to give her only water and other foods for a couple of days such as banana, minced meat, apple just to find out if it is dairy/lactose/gluten? What happened?
You really need a paediatrician. Hope you get one now that lockdown is easing.

bluevioletcrimsonsky · 24/06/2020 05:46

My ds was often sick as a baby(breast fed), and prescribed Ranitidine too. Become even worse after weaning. Turned out he had multiple food allergies, later found out he also had congenital illness that needed surgery, which the paed said it could have been found as a baby with one simple scan. Don't want to scare you, but do fight to be seen by paed just in case.

ShanC95 · 24/06/2020 07:30

@DianaT1969 her dads mum and dad smoke we leave with them but the smoke out the back i dont think its that because when we was in the car and she was sick no smoke and windows was up they just say swap her milk trouble is she no sick every day so i coukd take dairy out she no be sick and then in a weeks times she sick she can go weeks with out being sick and then three days in a row its mental thats why its really hard im happy to take it out if that what she actually allergic to but i dont want to take it out buy all the alternatives super expensive and for it not to be that like mess her around

@bluevioletcrimsonsky what was the scan she did have a scan on her kidney but that because she got really ill in January and ended up with with a uti ? How do you see a paediatrician? Ask the doctor to refer you?

Have you ever tried cranial osteopathy with a child specialist. It may be worth trying if shes sick so often, maybe something to do with balance in her ear? Can recommend someone amazing in the southeast.

Twizbe · 24/06/2020 07:51

My son was super sicky as a baby and for him it was a milk allergy. As he got older his reaction went from sick to lose poo. I feel terrible because of ages he was doing these poos and it was because I got my brands mixed up and was giving him biscuits with milk in 🤦‍♀️

If she is over 1 she doesn't need any milk including the alternatives. It might take some work to get the bottles away at bed time but if it stops the sick it's worth it.

It can take a few weeks for the milk to get out of their systems. Some reactions to milk can be delayed as well (we're talking hours after they have eaten it)

bluevioletcrimsonsky · 24/06/2020 08:18

If it's allergy, it's quite straight forward if you get reffered to allergy clinic, since result is quite clear. We were lucky one of the gp decided to refer him to the hospital. Other one(chronic illness due to congenital defect) wasn't, it was very rare, and the paed didn't think it's worth doing scan for ages. Once he had the scan, he was diagnosed straight away, referred to the specialist hospital and had surgery.
If it's intolerance, I am not sure, since my dc doesn't have one. But went though many testing, so they maybe able to get diagnosed if the test is done.

ShanC95 · 24/06/2020 08:30

@bluevioletcrimsonsky thanks im going to phone my doctors and either ask for an allergic teat or to see a paediatrician

OP posts:
Mojitomogul · 24/06/2020 11:06

You don't usually get referred, its usually private, might be worth giving it a google or ask on a local Bristol page if anyone has recommendations

bluevioletcrimsonsky · 24/06/2020 12:43

It doesn't get referred easily I know, but in my ds's case, the GP I saw had a child with allergy herself, so she was sympathetic and referred him to allergy clinic in local hospital. We were very lucky. After having chronic illness being found out, the consultant at London hospital referred him to other drs including allergy dr within the hospital too, so once you are in the system, everything seems to go very smoothly. One of my ds's friend's parents had really hard time dealing with gp not referring, but got the referral in the end after persistent request.
