Has anyone had any experience with this? Real life experience with Treatments and processes etc? My nephew has quite a pronounced presentation. I also wondered if there was a link between it and reflux...he is a very sicky baby!

My DS has diagnosed pectus escavatum (moderate to severe with rib flaring). Unfortunately the nhs have just recently stopped treating this condition. We're currently seeking advice via the pectus clinic as it's affecting his mental health. It's reported to affect boys more than girls.

Thank you so much for replying. I had read that it gets worse during puberty so felt concerned that it was so pronounced so early on.

Hello squirrel. My son had ct scan in feb 2020 and was diagnosed.as having moderate to severe pe. His consultant has applied for funding from ccg as no longer routine on nhs as you said. However as he is nearly 17 and now really affecting his self esteem We can not afford to wait. I now am thinking of paying privately and have just started researching the pectus clinic. Can I ask what you think of them so far. ? Kind regards trudy

Pectus clinic has been very good so far. Due to covid we've had a few delays but have essentially been told my son is a candidate but due to not being funded by the NHS we'll need to think this through and it's a big op.

RinkyD · 20/01/2021 18:17

@Nutlesssquirrel. Did you go ahead with the clinic?

FoodieToo · 20/01/2021 22:38

We came over from Dublin to London to attend www.londonorthotics.co.uk/. We attended Sam in Kingston. Now it was for pectus carinatum but very happy with both outcome and follow up.

My son has it. He’s been seeing an NHS consultant every 2 years since he was 5 (he’s now 16). Surgery has been an option - I hadn’t heard about the NHS not covering it any more. But his next appointment is in a couple of months’ time.

I have it. I'm 33 year old female and only found out today. I remember when I was teenager thinking it looked a bit different but never really thought anything of it. GP is sending me for CT and MRI scan, I'm feeling quite anxious but was only picked up through chest ray for something else
