Pox indents 5 years on

My child had very severe chicken pox aged 2 and a half. She is now 7 and a half and the many indented marks on her temple and between her eyebrows and lower forehead, cheeks etc are still there. The colour faded after a year or so but the indents have stayed. The larger, shallower ones have flattened our somewhat, but the small, deep ones are still the same, especially in direct lighting, eg facing a window.
It still makes me feel so sad as they are so
Central on her face, and there are lots.
Looking for any people who know if these can ever improve in to adulthood. I am very much doubting it now as she has already grown lots since being two and her scars are still there.

I know in the grand scheme of things, pock marks aren’t serious but even so, it still upsets me.
Thanks.

I still have pox marks, 40 years on from having chickenpox.

They can fade slightly, but I don't think they will disappear. Have a read of this thread from a while ago on the same topic x

I still have mine, which I got when I was 9 ( so less growing happened I guess). Honestly I don't notice them, they are just part of my face.

My child had a very bad dose of chickenpox 6 years ago. The scars have become less visible with time, but there are still 100 plus visible ones on face and abdomen. They are less vivid but do show up a lot more when tanned

I am 55 and had it at 13. I still have indetentation marks in my eyebrow and on my cheek (face Wink ). You may have to live with them I'm afraid.

I still have mine too 30+ years on. Didnt bother me so much as a teen/ adult i didnt/ don't have perfect/ clear/beautiful complexion like kids do.

It's really strange how long the chicken pox scars hang around isn't it. I had terrible cystic acne in my 20s and a couple of cysts left a slight mark you can only see in certain light, yet the childhood chicken pox scars are quite visible. The thing is though, a lot of adults have them. My husband and I both have really obvious ones in the exact same place above our eyebrows and didn't even notice until we had been together about a year!

I have on my forehead 31 years after getting the pox. Hopefully your daughter won't be bothered by it.

I really wish they'd immunise kids against CP, like they do in, oh I don't know, the rest of the western world!

I've paid privately for both my kids, but it's rediculous that they take such a relaxed approach to what can be an awful disease. Even if you get a mild version, you're still looking at a good period off school / nursery and therefore work.

25 years on and I still have one on my temple and one on my chest, I'm afraid OP.

I suppose I was hoping that, given she was only 2.5 at the time, they would fade further than they have already in the 5 years since she got chicken pox. Seriously, she was so so poorly with chicken pox, her face was plastered in massive sore spots. Her body too but her face was particularly bad. I did everything I could to prevent the scarring but the spots were so deep and big, plus it was a particularly hot time of the year so that didn’t help at night. It was really quite traumatic. Even now, as you can tell, it upsets me as her Mum to still see the evidence of it.

Anyway, time will tell, I don’t think anyone else notices like i do.

Thanks for your replies x
