Appendicitis Symptoms

My 5yr old ds has been complaining of a sore tummy on/off for the past week. Always the same place, lower right of bellybutton. Can be completely fine and then come and sit down saying its sore. Eating, sleeping, toileting fine. No temp. Tried pressing and releasing and he just says it hurts.
I will absolutely call NHS for advice if worsening but I just wondered if anyone else had a wee one who had "minor" persistent symptoms and it did turn out to be appendicitis. Not sure if I'm worrying over nothing.
He's usually a robust wee guy, not anxious, same place every time and knows nothing about appendicitis to try it on! 😂
Any advice greatly appreciated.

My ds had appendicitis. He had tummy ache which got worse over the course of a night. He was then sick. I took him to hospital, they monitored him for 12 hours and then operated the following morning.

So it was all quite persistent and didn’t come and go. But each case is different! If you are at all concerned, speak to your GP, they aren’t to be messed about with. When my ds’s came out it had already burst but luckily all the infection was localised so they got it all out and he made a quick recovery but if it was left longer it could have been nasty,

Thank you! I'll definitely keep a close eye on him and any new symptoms I'll call NHS. I just always assumed, like in your case, that it was quite a sudden thing. However he is so consistent about the location that its throwing me a bit!
Appreciate you replying.

You know your child best, but with young ones, my rule of thumb is that anything that lasts longer than 3 days needs to be checked. Just call your doctor. Ours are doing telephone triage and online consultations as the first step and will give you a face to face appointment if they think its necessary.

Ds has just had his out.

He had sore tummy day 1 (but didn't say anything)
Woke 2am with tummy ache day 2 (didn't say anything)
When I saw him at 8am he said his tummy hurt, but didn't seem too bad, so I went to work.
He didn't eat anything during the day except a banana (dh did offer and he said he was hungry but didn't eat).
When I arrived home at 6pm, his temperature was coming up and he threw up when he tried to get out of bed.
Took him to A&E that evening. He threw up moving from the car to hospital; and again after the covid test.
He was put on antibiotics and a drip, and (according to the notes) deteriorated during the night and was operated the next day.

His appendix was not critical when they got it out, just a bit swollen.

I'd take a guess that is isn't appendicitis for your ds because ds couldn't eat, move without throwing up and was rapidly going downhill -his temperature was 37.2 when I left home and 38.9 (after calpol) by midnight, for example. I'm not saying it definitely isn't, but just it seems unlikely from the length of time and the fact he's being able to continue normally.
I'd suggest checking for wee infection perhaps, so I would speak to the GP.

Thanks! That's more how I would expect things to be.
We'll definitely just be vigilant for next few days and make an appt if need be.

Could be a grumbling appendix
