Banged my 10 week old babys head

I was putting her down on her cot top changer and I don't know how but I just sort of dropped her the last few inches, can't have been much further than that but she landed head first as I was still holding her but very awkwardly if you see what I mean. It made such a loud bang. She cried instantly and I picked her up for a cuddle, she screamed for a few minutes but then went straight back to being perfectly happy, smiley self. My husband was right there and says she's fine and doesn't think she needs to go to A&E or anything as she seems fine but I'm so scared I might have hurt her. She did vomit after but she has reflux so she always vomits and this looks the same as always. There's no bump or bruise that I can see and she's feeding fine now. I can't stop crying though, I feel so bad and am so worried I hurt her. Should I take her to A&E anyway just to be safe?

I'd call 111 and see what they suggest

Bless you op. I’m sure little one is ok but might be worth a call to 111 or trip to a and e in case?

Embracelife · 31/05/2020 12:52

Just keep an eye.she happy smiley.
Scream is good
When they dont cry or react it s a bad sign if the bang is big. Doesnt sound like it was major

Embracelife · 31/05/2020 12:52

It was onto changing mat right so not onto hard wood?

Woodlandwalks · 31/05/2020 12:55

Yes, the changing mat which was on the cot top changer

A&e won't do anything specific and I wouldn't take a baby into there at the present time. 111 will give specific advice so I'd give them a ring. If she vomited they may advise A&e as it's an indicator for head injury, but they follow algorithms so can't deviate even though it's probably her reflux.

Basically observe her for the next 48 hours. Any unusual sleepiness, lump or swelling on the head, unusual crying, irritability and poor feeding are signs she needs to be seen. It happens all the time so try not to worry x

Thank you all. I rang 111 who advised A&E so we've been, she was seen straight away and they were happy that she seems perfectly fine so we're home again and to keep a close eye for the next 48 hours.

@Woodlandwalks So pleased she's fine. I used to work in a&e and for nhsdirect so know the advice to expect.
