So DS is 7 months and has had this glare in his eye that has been noticeable for the last few months. I didn't think anything of it at first as I was the only one noticing it but then DH and DMIL also noticed it and found it strange. About 2 weeks ago I had a video consultation with my doctor for my DD and decided to ask the doctor about it but because it wasn't visible at the time she brushed it off and said it was fine as long as he could focus his eyes. Has anyone ever seen this or experienced it? I have finally managed to get a picture of it in the right lighting today so I will attach! AIBU to make a big deal of it. I'm aware of retinoblastoma but I wouldn't exactly say I think it's that though I'm not doctor! Advice please!

Sorry OP, no advice here, but you might attract more knowledgable people if you report your post and get MNHQ to change the title to something more descriptive.

To be honest, I'm not sure I'm seeing what you're seeing. Could it be a light reflection? If you feel it's not 'normal' for your child, definitely get in touch with your gp again. Having said that, retinoblastoma is often first noticed in photos where a flash has been used but instead of a 'red eye' (pupil) in the flash photo the pupil appears white.

I can see it OP - but it is very subtle. I'm not surprised that the GP couldn't see it.
It's most likely to be some kind of persistent vitreous membrane, so basically something left over from when his eye developed as a foetus.
It's not far enough back in the eye to be retinoblastoma.

Still it needs looking at by an ophthalmologist. I'd speak to your GP again, show him the photo you've taken above (you'll need to point to the bit on the photo where it is) and tell him what I've suggested it is (I'm an Optometrist.

@underneaththeash thank you for that. I feel I should mention it's always in the same place of the eye and I have always found it strange! Will contact my GP ASAP Blush
