2 year old with constant headaches?!

Hi there

For the last few weeks my 2 year old seems to have a constant headache. He cant talk as such but at random points in the day he will hold his head and almost breakdown in tears and then take himself and put a blanket over his head for a while.

I suffer badly with migraines but is it even possible for a baby to get them? Is there anything I can do to help? He drinks alot of water (he doesnt have any solids just formula and water due to food aversion) And he doesn't spend too much time in the sun as half of our garden is covered in shade so maybe spends 10 minutes (maybe less?) in the sun a day while we go for a walk at the moment.

Im just looking for some hope that its nothing to worry about. Grin

Thanks for reading if youve got this far x

Is it possible he has picked something up from you? My youngest at about 3ish would often complain of back ache. I don't think he had back ache at all but DH often had a bad back and he was copying.

Having said that, probably best to check out with GP in case it is something serious.

I would definitely see your GP, it could be behavioural but it’s impossible to know without seeing him and understanding his general health. Are you getting support for the food aversion?

Certainly possible and says here children rarely fake headaches. Is it possible he’s dehydrated? If he’s just having water and formula could it be low electrolytes or low blood sugar? Is he In need of glasses? Do you give calpol when he complains of it? If so you could try a placebo of ‘new’ medicine (squash or something) one day and see.

I'm on medication for my migraines so he very rarely sees me complaining of one fortunately

He started therapy for his aversion just before lockdown started so it's slow at the moment but he is under occupational therapy and speech and language therapy for it thankfully.

He did have a full panel of bloods done back in January and they are all ok, again he was supposed to have them done again last month to check but that was understandably cancelled until this is all over with! In regards to the medicine, I will very rarely give calpol as he struggles to take anything due to his aversion. It's difficult enough getting his omeprazole in him every day Grin
