Daily nosebleeds 9 year old ds

9 year old ds is going through a spate of nosebleeds. Usually overnight, but can happen anytime.

He gets hayfever and of course the pollen count is increasing, so I wondered whether it might be due to that? But he has just had his second one of the morning, it started from nowhere, didn't last overly long (maybe 5 minutes) but this one was unusual in that a clot came out.

Is it a Dr thing, or shall we just accept that this happens to him at the moment? I worry a bit about iron levels and the fact that they are so frequent, but equally the NHS website says not to worry, but I am!

Does he take antihistamines? My dd was prescribed a nasal spray a few times before eventually getting her nose cauterised to help stop them

He takes antihistamines when it gets really bad, but not daily. You've just reminded me we got a steroid nasal spray for him a few years back, I wonder whether it was for the same thing. I'll ring and ask next week

He should maybe take the antihistamine daily at the moment if he is being affected by hayfever. Can take a few days for them to take effect

TheShoesa · 23/05/2020 14:10

We'll try that, thank you!

Did he take the steroid nose spray?
I stopped taking mine because it gave me nosebleeds, assume it was from thinning the lining of my nose

I was sorting through the medicine cupboard and found it, label said 2018, but I can't remember what we'd seen the GP for at that time. Intersting that it caused you problems, though Heathen

The odd nosebleed here and there is not a problem, but it is the frequency of this current batch that have made me a little concerned

Which one is it?

Beconase Aqueous Nasal Spray (50mcg)

Pharmacy label says to use 2 sprays in each nostril twice a day, but it was in a July which makes me think hayfever more than nosebleeds.
