Raisin up 2yo nose ...

DS 2.5 poked a raisin from a hot cross bun up his nose this afternoon. I got a tiny pair of tweezers and put his head back and as I could see it, pulled it gently out. It was approx a quarter of a raisin in size.

DS told me he put a 'massive' raisin up there- I don't know if I can believe him or not. He can breath through both nostrils, I've shone a torch up there and can't see anything, he hasn't been coughing, he seems fine.

We took him to A and E on doctors advice, they couldn't see anything and hadn't got the staff/equipment available to have a deeper look up, so they've asked us to go back tomorrow to put a stick and camera up his nostril. They said usually toddler would be put to sleep for it, but because of covid they aren't doing that, so he will be awake and it will be uncomfortable for him.

What's the worst that could happen if we don't go? I don't want to put him through a horrible experience if I can help it, and also don't really want another trip to the hospital for obvious reasons. He can breath clearly through each nostril, they asked my husband to blow sharply into his mouth but nothing came out.

Any experience of toddler nose incidents??

What you need to do is cover the other nostril and blow...Google it.

It's called the mother's kiss? Blow into the mouth with the unaffected nostril covered. Some A and E drs will ask you to do it.

Yes it was my DH who took him to A and E as I'm breastfeeding my other baby so stayed at home. They asked him to do that but nothing came out.

I suppose it depends on how much you trust your two year old's definition of massive. Raisins don't fragment very easily- did you ask your son if that was all of it?
