5.5 year old change in eating habits?

We have a 5.5 year old dd.
She’s always been pretty fussy, total veg dodger, won’t eat anything with sauce, the only thing we could ever get in her without fail for dinner was pizza, pasta and chips.
Since lockdown she is like a different child. She is eating me out of house and home.
I’m not sure if it’s because she’s not having 2 snacks a day at school (and sometimes one after school before dancing or gymnastics)
I would say that she previously finished her small portion of dinner maybe once a week. Every other night was a struggle, bribery, reward charts, ignoring her whinging etc.
Anyway, she’s wanting to try and willingly eating so many new foods, rice, chinese, Indian, roast dinners, meat, burgers, sausages, curry, bolognese, stew, omelettes etc etc.
Not only this, but she’s asking for seconds and even thirds.
DH just thinks we should embrace it and that she’s just discovered that food is good and that she has an appetite now she’s not snacking.
I am all for this, but I do worry that seconds and thirds of a meal is a bit much!
She’s on about 17th centile for weight so I’m not concerned re that, just that it’s creating bad eating habits eating so much in one go.
Do other people allow their children seconds and thirds if they are still hungry?
For reference tonight she had 3 chipolata sausages, 2 pieces of garlic bread, salad, and 3 helpings of pasta. And then a cake bar for desert.

If you're eating together where you usually don't that could be it. Although I'd be concerned there may be an underlying reason for the huge change. I'm sorry I've not lived experience of this though.

I am with your dh on this. I think you should just embrace it, I am sure she will settle down. She could be going through a growth spurt as well.

We do usually eat dinner together each evening. And breakfast when schools are open.
I am wondering if it’s because she’s having 3 meals a day here and no snacks.
Usually at school she’ll have breakfast, then fruit and milk, then school dinner and pudding, then more fruit in the afternoon, then usually a snack before after school activities such as a pack of mini biscuits. Then will refuse to eat tea.
Or perhaps school dinners are much larger than what I’m providing at lunch time?

I actually have had a large appetite for most of my life, bar the last few years where I've had health issues, but I've never been overweight. I assume I have/had a fast metabolism.

In fact whilst she’s been home they’ve been on the swing, slide and trampoline for at least 3 hours solid each day.
That must make her more hungry than sat in a classroom.
But then on the other hand she’s had no swimming, dancing, gymnastics, acro etc so perhaps doing a similar amount of exercise as she usually would.
