4 month old, constant vomiting

My little guys is 4 months. He was diagnosed with reflux when he was about a month old but had to see a few doctors one of which told me I was just a young mum (I’m 27!) and I had a fussy baby. My guys is a blissful baby he rarely cries, he sleeps all night far from fussy. By 2 months his reflux went away no more vomiting or pain . Happy mum !

But in this last few weeks he has become a puke monster ! Before feeds after feeds just all the time. Not spit up, full blown sick. He projectiles , covers me and himself and the house! It varies from clear to thick mucus like or curdled milk. He retches and heaves.
We’ve had gaviscon we’ve had ranitidine.
He is breast fed with an occasional formula.

I went back to the gp and instantly oh yea it’s reflux not much you can do and that’s that . Because he is putting on weight no one seems to care. I know babies spit up but not this this and not all the time . I’m at my wits end I don’t know what to do or who to turn to ! My partner says I over react but he doesn’t spend his day head to toe in vomit.

Normally baby doesn’t make much of a fuss about being sick but recently he will cry a cry like I’ve never heard before it’s a real pain cry.

Do I try the doctors again ? Children’s hospital to see an actual children’s doctor ?
😞

I roll my eyes at some doctors, there is plenty of safe, gentle treatment for reflux albeit a bit fiddly for those breastfeeding. My DD1 had reflux, she continued to put on weight but was in agony with it. First appointment my GP prescribed infant gaviscon & when that didn’t fully resolve the issue, we got omeprazole added on as well. Took two appointments with just my GP. Thank god for them, they are a really helpful bunch of doctors at my practice!

Infant gaviscon keeps the milk down & omeprazole stops the acid production if it’s causing pain. Go see another doctor & ask for gaviscon! Sounds like it would really help your little one!

Another option that we are using currently with DD2 is a thickener called Carobel. DD2 projectiles all the time, it’s grim but doesn’t seem to cause her as much pain as big sis. We couldn’t continue gaviscon this time as our DD2 has real poo issues & gaviscon was making it worse! Carobel is doing much the same, it’s helping keep the milk down on the whole! DD2 is much happier on it!

Hope you can get some help!

Please speak to someone. I don't want to alarm you, but pyloric stenosis causes projectile vomiting.
