Hi

Just that really. He is 5 and went to bed last night fine. He woke up with a limp, That has lasted all day, and he has gone to bed with it.

As far as I am aware he has had no accidents. We havent left the house for over 2 weeks so he is always around me and he hasnt injured himself. He has no sores or blisters. I have massaged his leg, stretched it and manipulated it abit and it gets to a point he will shout out, ouch. When asked where it hurts he says it's his thigh. Only one of them. He can put his foot flat but when he walks he limps and hobbles. I did ask him to run for me (not in a cruel way), to see if he was having me on. He got upset, but did and collapsed screaming.
He is fine in himself. Eating and drinking and nothing else bothering him. I just cannot understand why he has developed this limp.

Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks in advance

Oh, that’s good news. Worth going! I’m sure the meds and chill time at home will sort him out. And you can relax a bit

Dd has something similar.
Was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. About a year on with no improvement, she was re diagnosed with hyper mobility syndrome. However, she was in pain.

If your DC does have ASC, hyper mobility can be a common comorbidity.

Definitely worth going and I am glad we did. Was really surreal. I applaud anyone who has to work in a hospital, or anywhere on the front line at the moment to be honest. The X Ray department was frightening. My anxiety was out of control. I got home, stripped us off, showered us and then had a cry. We havent left home in weeks, so to have to, to go to a hospital has really frightend me.

But hopefully he will be on the mend now

Oh, @SpideyMom have a big glass of wine and be proud of yourself for dealing with this and looking after your boy despite the current climate and your anxiety

My little one we exactly the same. It was transient synovitis (irritable hip). I'd never even heard of it before! Good advice to refer back to:

Well done. He will soon be on the mend now.

So glad you went and all ok. Sounds like the same as my DD and PPs - transient synovitis.

Wasn't anything to worry about for us and she just took ibroprofen for a few days and it was gone.

We had a couple follow up appointment to make sure joint and limp had improved.
