Hi, would love some advice from anyone who has had a similar problem- my daughter is 7 and she complains all the time of feeling nauseous but is never sick. She seems most affected in the mornings and evenings. She also complains of tummy aches. I did think it may be anxiety but she doesnt really seem to be particularly anxious about much and it happens during term time/holidays/whenever. It is worse around when she has had a bug and these symptoms linger for a lot longer than the illness- weeks. When we went to the doctors once the doctor explained thst children get tummy ache for all sorts of reasons. But it seems to be happening too regularly to be just bugs. We haven't tried changing her diet is the only other thing i can think of, but I dont feel like it will be that somehow! Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi,

I've lurked her for ages but seeing your post I had to reply.
My daughter has just turned 6 and was very similar to what you describe. She was prescribed a chalky medicine to help with acid build up which helped on and off but It progressed after a long time to being sick after evening meals. I asked for her to be put on reflux medicine and it we are now in week 5 of a daily tablet of omezoparol (or something like that!) and she's a different child. No more sickness or feeling sick, and it's only now it's stopped she noticed how much better she feels.
She's been diagnosed by GP with GERD now and when things settle down she will be referred to the hospital for investigation but for now she will keep on the medicine for 3 months. It might be worth you looking into this? I have really noticed that her anxiety levels peek when the acid levels rise as I think she knows he doesn't feel well but can't describe it too well she's only 6!
Good luck and hope you can find out what's going on with your daughter

Yes this describes exactly what my 7 year old is currently going through. Unfortunately he’s had about 3 years of stomach issues after a nasty bout of food poisoning. We have been through different stages, at one point he was getting diarrhoea every day for 4 months. We took him off gluten, that seemed to make a difference, but in the meantime he still has regular stomach ache and now nausea and also dizzinsss at the same time. He was finally put on something Called Buscopan a couple of months ago but is still having this stomach ache and nausea and dizziness. He started Omeprazole two days ago and will be reviewed in a month.

It’s been really stressful I have to say, Because this has affected his need to go to the loo he’s struggled with attending school for a couple Of years now and at one point seemed to develop anxiety about if even though he really loves his school and friends.

Thanks so much both I really appreciate your replies. Your experience gave us the idea to try gaviscon so we will see if that makes a difference before going to the doctors to ask for further advice. I now realise that if it's reflux the issues first thing in the morning and at bedtime are likely because she's lying down! Thanks again and good luck with your kids too xx
