Hi everyone-has anyone seen anything like this before? My 4yo is getting between 5-10 new ones every day. Doctor is baffled. We’ve been on antibiotics, antihistamine and steroid cream. We have no animals. We have no carpets, downstairs anyway which is where she spends most of her time. We haven’t changed any detergents or exposed her to anything new, externally or in her diet. She’s had chicken pox before and the doctor has discounted that and shingles. She’s not in any pain and has no temperature (now, she did for a couple of days) but they really itch.

Any help really appreciated!

Looks like chickenpox to me?
Are you certain it was chickenpox last time?
But also looks like it good be possible a midge bites reaction . Have she been spending time outside at dusk? Near water?

As mentioned, the doctor is certain it’s not chicken pox and she’s definitely had it before. She’s not been spending any time outside at dusk or near water. One walk at midday is all we’re doing for obvious reasons!

Is the doctor just discounting chicken pox because she’s had it before? When did the first ones appear?

Therollockingrogue · 04/04/2020 10:46

Oh sorry no, from your last update doesn’t look like chickenpox or bites at all I’m really not sure?

chickedeee · 04/04/2020 10:50

Maybe a mosquito or midge bite that has been scratched?

I sometimes have similar reactions to midges, anti histan works to minimise itch for several days Sad

‘Hot tub folliculitis’ can present a bit like this if I remember correctly. But on the legs i’m not sure..

Thanks everyone. The doctor saw it as she was running a very high temperature so they asked us to take her in. That was a hazmat adventure. But on seeing it he was certain it wasn’t chicken pox.

Is it an atypical enterovirus infection? Although hand foot and mouth is the rash most commonly associated with enterovirus, it doesn’t always fit that distribution. The previous fever would fit.

@WillaDaPeephole could be - how is that treated? It's still going on - seven more overnight.
