Isolating but caught a stomach bug, how??

We, like most of the UK, have been in isolation for well over a week. My DS is 4 and hasn't been out for 17 days now, 13 days for my other kids and my husband. I've been out twice to do weekly shop and none of us have been ill.
My DS this morning has been sick. He says his heads hurting and tummy. How is it possible to get a bug when there's only us to catch it from??

Could be a headache, sometimes presents as sickness in children.

My 2 year old has just been sick too. Both fell back to sleep at 7:30 woke at 8:30 to be sick. Definitely something they have had. The only thing they have had is a cup of water when they woke up at 6:30. Everything else they have had is exactly the same as my older two children, husband and myself. I used the chicken from my Sunday roast in a pie yesterday for tea which was properly cooked through etc however if it is something like this then I assume we will all get ill soon as their metabolism is quicker so will effect them sooner??

I usually assume tummy bugs/virus unless really ill sickness and diarrhoea as food poisoning is more severe ime. You said you've been out twice so could have picked something up and either not affected or just not affected yet (sorry!). Their immune systems are still developing and poorer than yours.

Most likely to be food poisoning, though at that age maybe don't rule out not washing his hands after sticking them inside his pants to scratch his bum/doing a poo, or eating something he found on the floor under the sofa? :-)
