Please help me!

My 6wk daughter has silent reflux and no matter what I do I can not soothe her, she's been crying all day and evening

Try sit her up as much as possible, and try get some ranitidine. It completely changed our lives! Different child after it. It's so hard :( xx

Mine did too, turned out to be cows milk allergy, once we cut out all traces of milk it stopped any reflux. Hope that helps - if not go back to your gp and ask for help, it's very hard! X

My little one had a reflux..doctor prescribed carobel to thicken feeds..you can buy it without prescription but id check with doc/hv first..

Gp changed her milk yesterday to Aptamil pepti for suspected milk allergy - she was on cow and gate anti reflux milk before the change, the new milk is so thin so I thought she was hungry where it wasn't filling her up enough so I bought the Carobel today, she's had 2 bottles with it in but it doesn't seem to have helped at all

Let the doctor know the new milk hasnt helped and ask for ranitidine or omeprazole. Good luck op Flowers

Gaviscon baby did nothing but cause constipation aswell

mumof5cn · 28/03/2020 20:32

He told me it would probably take about a week to notice a difference if it is a milk allergy

I'm surprised they went straight to milk allergy right away

It's not been handled very well tbh, it was only last weekend that the out of hours doctor suspected it to be silent reflux - I wasn't convinced as my now 7yr old dd had it and baby isn't displaying any of the symptoms I'd expect to see, but on her advice I changed the milk to Aptamil anti reflux milk, it didn't seem to make much difference apart from baby sleeping a bit longer between feeds but I thought that might just be due to the milk being thicker so filling her up more. She has still been in pain and extremely unsettled so I called my gp Friday - they aren't seeing people if they can help it due to the coronavirus. He said he suspected it to be a cow milk allergy so prescribed her Aptamil pepti milk to try for 2wks.

I am not really happy about switching and changing her milk like this as surely it can't be good for her?

In desperation tonight, I gave baby a bottle of the anti reflux milk and she settled straight away and has been settled ever since.

So I really don't know what to think!?

I would be inclined to ring the gp and tell them the new milk isn't agreeing and that you tried the other milk and it was alittle better infact so you don't think it is an allergy. Maybe something targeting the acid like ranitidine or omeprazole would be better? Good luck op and I sympathise as I have been there with both my dc. Flowers

Have you tried anti colic treatment, just in case she has this/too

Eeyoresstickhouse · 31/03/2020 12:55

You wont be able to get ranitidine at the moment due to issues with the ingredients. This is a worldwide issue. You should be able to get omeprazole on prescription.

I feel for you. Silent reflux sucks. Ranitidine worked for our daughter and she was like a different child.
