Yes

How big is he? (It's more about body weight than age.)

Give him half the dosage if you're unsure.

Yes ( unless he is particularly tiny- more about body mass than age )

Check her weight and the actual dose is available on the internet - my 4 yo was too light for the 4-6 dose (but fine for the 2-4!)

Yes, when my dd was Unwell and refusing strawberry calpol the pharmacist was considering allowing her to have 6plus at 3 as she was so tall. She decided against it in the end but I doubt you’ll have too many problems with a nearly 6 year old

I’ve been giving my kids 6+ since they were very small, but you need to adjust the dose accordingly - 6+ is roughly twice as strong so you need just under half as much. You need to be confident with maths and calculating the correct dose to do this though because paracetamol is very dangerous. The reason I do this is because 6+ is cheaper, and with poorly children it can be easier to get a smaller volume into them. It’s also what they do in hospital, so that there isn’t confusion over picking up the wrong bottle and overdosing kids

Yes. You just give lads. I give it to any child who needs over 5ml of standard. Regardless of age. (Peads nurse)

Our GP recommended we do this with DD, she was ill (I think it was chicken pox) a couple of months before 6th birthday. They said the dosages are based on weight, & size of an internal organ, maybe the liver, which is again relative to overall weight. So as our DD is big & tall, she would be fine for the next age range dose.

She is 75th centile for weight and height and just plonked her on the scales and she's 3.5 stone
