Bad thrush

DD2 (2.8) has what I think is thrush. Very red and irritated vulva and bum. There were spots as well - I went to the pharmacy and got cream (yesterday) but it's not really helping and the spots are quite pronounced. There are also some on her thighs and a couple on her bum cheeks.

Is there anything I else I can do to help her discomfort? Could it be something other than thrush?

She's not had Chicken Pox before but there are no spots anywhere else.

She's also potty trained so not in nappies.

@Floraflower3 thank you! Honestly you'd think she had the plague 🙈

They are red, the isolated ones had a red ring around them too, but most are just small slightly raised red spots. They are not blistering.

If you didn't intend it, perhaps think a bit more carefully about your choice of wording.

Or you could just take the information and not apply emotion to it that I didn't write? Seriously, I didn't post anything to get at you. I posted it to make you realise that your child should be seen.

I'm sorry if it offended you, like I said, I didn't mean it to do that, but please don't have a go at me for telling you that you could take your child to be seen somehow. That's the facts. My 'choice' of wording is how I see things, not a slight against you, so don't use that against me.

Everyone is saying I was harsh so I guess that must be how it looked, ultimately though I do just thought your DD should be seen and properly diagnosed then treated accordingly - there really isn't anything harsh about saying that.

@purplebob not that's not harsh, and I will get her seen. Unfortunately that won't be until Monday. It's things like 'fgs' that don't come across very well.

Anyway, the conclusion seems to be it doesn't sound like typical thrush. She's not gravely unwell so unless something dramatic happens then I'm not too worried about waiting until then

Yeah, I'm sorry about the 'fgs' etc. That was unnecessary.

SleepForTheWeak it's so hard to tell without actually seeing the spots, good luck with getting DD sorted!

SleepForTheWeak · 07/03/2020 19:27

That's her inner thigh and a bit of her groin, and then a close up on a patch of her spots.

This is tonight after her bath.

The cream DEFINITELY hasn't helped, my options now are just to wait until Monday, or to phone 111 tomorrow and see what they suggest.

Good luck at the docs tomorrow, might be worth asking for a swab to be taken to exclude thrush and other bacterial causes if they don't offer it?

SleepForTheWeak · 08/03/2020 07:52

Thank you. They actually look much better today, much less angry looking. Looks suspiciously like chicken pox but I think it would be strange it's not anywhere else and DD1 has No symptoms either 🤷🏼‍♀️

Managed to get DD an appointment today - doc is actually a bit stumped. Said it looks like CP but as it's not spread anywhere else it's unlikely. He thinks it's a bacterial infection of some sort, he also checked her throat etc which is all red and inflamed.

So, have a course of antibiotics for her to take and fingers crossed she improves very soon.
