Hi my 3 year old son has had previous viral induced wheeze and had probs with his breathing in past but cant diagnose asthma yet. This new Virus is worrying me due to his situation and if it would be bad for him to catch the CoronaVirus and if it would make it worse for him any advice please?

It would be bad for anyone to catch the Coronavirus.
The best thing you can do is take all the necessary precautions. Panicking won't help.
Hand washing and being mindful of large crowds etc until we know more about it is what I'm doing and I don't thinks there is a lot more that anyone can do.

I am so fed up of people saying panicking won’t help. We all know rationally it won’t but as a mum of 2 dc with asthma I can’t pretend I’m not concerned about this. We are all still carrying on and I’m not telling them that I am thinking of this crap virus. It’s not knowing how they could be hit that is scary.

Anyway.. my advice would be to prepare. Make sure you have enough asthma relievers/preventers. I have an oximeter at home for pulse and oxygen levels and have measured my kids when they are well to have a guide. Same with peak flow and respiratory rate.

This is what I do anyway when they are wheezy but I’ve just reminded myself of our little asthma protocol and written all the info down and pinned it to the kitchen cupboard. I am also making sure they are really well now with good food, rest, fruit & veg. I don’t see this as panicking but being sensible.

Just follow normal cold & ‘flu avoidance procedures.
Catch it, bin it, kill it. Stringent hand washing.

my point exactly Lokis thats mainly my biggest fear is how it will affect him if he caught it and anything with ours babys breathing no medication on earth with stop me panicking or being anxious about it it terrifies me how fast this is spreading and how many of my family members also have previous heart and lung conditions could be fatal for any off them :( how they find cure and get rid this thing fast

Coronavirus is having minimal impact on children in affected areas- there have been no child deaths linked to coronavirus yet, and there will definitely be many children infected in countries like China, who also have asthma.

My DS (aged 3) is diagnosed asthmatic, takes a preventer and generally needs his reliever 3-6 times daily when he has a cold. So I understand the anxiety- but there really is no need to be more upset than you are about flu season generally.

I also read today that it doesn't seem to be affecting children so badly for some reason.

As others have said, the good news is that the vast majority of kids seem to experience mild symptoms and there have been next to no deaths of those under 8.

Look at the stats. Children aren't being hospitalised or dying. So no more risk to kids than any other virus. And less than many others
