Mottled skin on 7 year old

Is it normal for him to have mottled skin? Looks quite grey. He is freezing to touch.
He's had a virus this week but he's soldiered on with ease.
Is it just bad circulation?

Takes ages for us to get gp appt!

how is he apart from that.
my instinct is to say phone 101 or is it 111 I don't know for advice .
Not to be alarmist but it can be a sign of sepsis

AnnaMagnani · 26/02/2020 20:34

No. 7 year olds don't have bad circulation.

He needs to be seen by a real life heath care professional tonight. Take him to A+E.

ThelmaDinkley · 26/02/2020 20:35

How is he otherwise? Fever? Sleepiness? Lethargy? I would phone 111 as pp said mottled skin can be a sign of sepsis and if he is freezing to touch as well.

Kittykat93 · 26/02/2020 20:35

Yes I'd be ringing 111 ASAP.

ThelmaDinkley · 26/02/2020 20:36

In fact, agree with pp in that I’d go to A&E

GaaaaarlicBread · 26/02/2020 20:39

A&E could be sepsis . Deffo seek medical attention x

Evidencebased · 26/02/2020 20:39

I hope you're on your way to A&E.

7dayslater · 26/02/2020 20:46

Agree you should get him seen ASAP. I'd phone 111 tonight.

Hope everything's ok. Thanks

DCIRozHuntley · 26/02/2020 20:48

111 at the very least. They'll probably send you to A&E.

CottonSock · 26/02/2020 20:51

Does your gp have put of hours number?
Is he otherwise well? Drinking, weeing ok, breathing, temperature ? Look at the sepsis signs online, but if he's well then that's probably a good sign. You need to check temperature etc to inform gp/ 111.

LickYouLikeACrispPacket · 26/02/2020 20:56

Would definitely phone 111.

Does he have a fever, is he shaking/shivering, is he passing pale coloured urine, is he drinking etc?

Mottled skin and cold hands/feet can be signs of sepsis.

yarocket · 26/02/2020 21:41

He's been happily eating, sleeping, drinking and playing. If I took him to OOH they would laugh me out of there.

So are u going to call anyone op? Everyone here has advised you seek medical advice.

FREEM · 26/02/2020 22:07

cold extremities and mottled akin are both sepsis symptoms.
you 100% won't be laughed at and if you are so what at least your child will be ok.
my son had sepsis while in hospital. the first signs were a cold then mottling within minutes he was being ventilated.
please seek advice.

Shouldbedoing · 26/02/2020 22:11

Please get him checked out. I keep checking because you're describing classic symptoms of sepsis. Children can be happy and busy then deteriorate rapidly.

Horses4 · 26/02/2020 22:13

If it isn’t normal for him then get it checked out. My 9 year old has had Raynaud’s and other vascular issues for years, and she gets mottled greyish legs - it’s called livedo reticularis. But it is ‘normal’ for her.

Ginfordinner · 26/02/2020 22:15

Please ring 111. DD used to go grey and mottled when her temperature spiked. she then used to get the shakes. It was very frightening.

Hairwizard · 26/02/2020 22:18

A&e. Not normal. Had a scare with one of my weeks old twins last august. Turned out to be a nasty viral infection in the end but he was really poorly. Had been unwell a few days before.
Take him in if not already. Kids can go downhill very quickly.

YouBoggleMyMind · 26/02/2020 22:21

Pls get medical advice. My DS almost died of sepsis.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 27/02/2020 12:01

How’s your ds doing ?
