3yo grommets advice

Hi!
My son has just had grommets fitted. He is 3 and still non verbal (due to chronic glue ear that's been missed)
We are under pedatrics also because he is far behind in speech and language.
We have noticed he is so much calmer (hardly any frustrated meltdowns) and very responsive. Which is so great!
But my main fear is the language development. I'm not expecting him to start talking straight away as this is the first time he's ever heard words.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
I know all children are different, but if really love to hear some stories and experiences

Ds was on his second set of grommets at 3yo.
For him, he was verbal-although also very good at lipreading.
When you talk to him, get down on his level, face him so he can see you speaking.
Encourage language with the way you talk.
"Uh?"
"Yes. Car."
"tar."
"Yes, a red car."
So you're confirming what he says. Speak clearly, and not too complicated. "The maroon ford car is travelling over the bridge" has too much to think about and understand. By building up saying "car" then "red car" you give new words slowly.

Don't correct pronunciation, and don't imitate his speech if incorrect.
Silly games like banging a drum and calling "bang" at the same time used to go down well with ds.

Also be aware that sometimes loud noises can actually be painful to him. It's a shock for them.

There are two things that stood out for me in ds' hearing. One was after his 3yo grommets where he was jumping in autumn leaves and commented that they crunched this year, and hadn't last year-that was the difference in his hearing.
The other one was after his 6yo grommets where he came home from school very excited to tell me that sh and ch were different sounds-he'd always heard them the same before.

He's now 12yo and declared free from glue ear last year.
