Hey all, just looking for a bit of advice. My daughter had bronchiolitis at 4 weeks, she ended up needing to be hospitalised for 5 days. She is now 16 months and a super happy baby that loves being around other children. We started nursery at 9 months but had to take her out after a few months due to her getting ill. Like clockwork she would go in for one day come back with a cough turn into bronchiolitis and back in hospital, she would be well enough to go back after maybe another 2 weeks and it happens again. This has continued to any situation with a group of little ones where one invariably has a cold.
I know that getting sick is supper comment for little ones and they need to build there immunity but with her weak chest when it comes to common colds I don't know what the best thing to do is. I don't want her to suffer later when she starts school and gets bombarded with bugs. But it mustn't be good to put her through getting so unwell each and every time she picks something up. What would you do?

Please speak to your doctors/ask to see a specialist.

Our ds had 2 admissions with bronchiolitis before his 1st birthday.

He always developed a viral induced wheeze when he got unwell which we learnt to manage with inhalers and, at times, steroids which avoided any more admissions as he got bigger. He attended nursery 3 days a week from age 1 -3.

He’s now 11 and has well controlled asthma.

Can you talk to your GP to see what can be done to self manage the symptoms at an early stage to hopefully avoid as many admissions?

Do you have a paediatrician? If not, can you ask your GP to refer? They will be able to advise you better.

All the best Thanks
