Dd - allergic reaction to something - odd rash

Out for a woodland walk with 8yo dd and she suddenly had an allergic reaction to something.

Her cheeks went bright red and they were covered in large lumps that were skin coloured (so stood out from the red of her cheeks). I thought she had water splashes on her face and went to wipe them to realise they were lumps.

No issues with her mouth and throat so I think it was a contact thing rather than from the food and drinks.

It took about 2 hours for them to start to go, and whilst they are fully gone now, I'm worried about what she may have an allergy to. We are always in the woods/forest/farms etc so I'd hate to expose her again.

Have a google of hives and see if that’s what they looked like OP

I had this growing up and turned out I was allergic to evergreen trees !! Absolute nightmare !

Some of the images of hives look similar to what she had. So I would say yes, probably hives.

Wow all evergreens? That must be so hard.

We always have a fresh Christmas tree and no reaction to that.

Just on her face?
Has she had a virus / ear ache / tonsillitis recently? My DD gets hives at the end of an infection, such as ear infection. By coincidence she also has a nut allergy, so when I see the hives starting I have a massive panic that she hasn’t she has eaten
Something she shouldn’t have.

Did you have to give antihistamines or did it settle by itself?

No spread of the rash, Just across each cheek and a single lump on her chin. No additional symptoms, she said it felt a little itchy. Throat and mouth fine. We kept an eye and decided if it worsened we would seek first aid (we were at a National Trust site with staff), But it didn't worsen.

Just a little update!
We narrowed it down to two possible trees (to rule out before looking for another cause) - Yew and Sequoia.

We today we went for a walk in the woods and Dh asked her to sniff the end of a freshly snapped Yew twig. Not even a second later the lumps had appeared again. Less angry than last time but we had a Piritin to give her so they went after about an hour or so.

So....Yew trees. And even just a sniff of them. Bonkers.
