I need advice for dd

I hope this is the right place to post this. I swear i'm not a troll, just getting desperate for advice!

my dd (15) has discharge, which is normal for her. A few weeks ago, I took her to the GP since she said that her discharge had changed appearance (sorry for tmi), and the GP took a urine sample, said that nothing was wrong and sent her on her way. Recently (past 3 or 4 days) she has been telling me that it feels like she is wetting herself, and has constantly been feeling like she needs the toilet. I don't know if this is a sign of a urine infection, but if so wouldn't the GP have picked up on it? Could it be something else? I don't know what else the GP can do so don't know whether it is worth taking her back, but I will do if they can do something to help.

Thank you so much in advance for any advice.

forgot to add that she also has anxiety, so could it be related to that? she is under more stress than usual due to exams

Surely the events are completely separate as you dont have a UTI for weeks without noticing

The recent symptoms definitely are though

sleepismysuperpower1 · 11/01/2020 16:27

@Quartz2208 thank you, I wasn't sure whether to count the 2 events as separate or not. I'll try and make a GP appointment for next week.

Constipated, plus noticing totally normal changes in discharge over the menstrual cycle?

Quartz2208 · 11/01/2020 16:38

Ring up (do you have a weekend doctor service) or 111 UTIs need antibiotics quickly they can cause some quite serious symptoms

sleepismysuperpower1 · 11/01/2020 16:43

@Her0utdoors are you asking if dd is constipated? I don't think so, she has been a little more 'clogged up' than usual she says (having a poo every 2 days instead of every day like normal) but I think that's because she hasn't been drinking as much water as she usually does. the changes seemed out of character for her cycle, hence the previous trip to the gp, but she says her discharge now seems pretty normal.

@Quartz2208 I'll ring 111 now, thank you

How has the discharge changed? Is there anything there when she feels like she has wet herself?

I ask because I have a similar issue, but don't want to share unless it feels relevant

sleepismysuperpower1 · 11/01/2020 16:48

@PittstopPenelope the discharge when we went to see the GP was thicker than normal. now she says it seems quite thin but there is quite a lot of it.

Get her her drinking more water and eating more fibre. In the mean time, pantyliners and pads, these things pass. Would never have thought to take a teen to the docs for discharge. Constipation can cause pressure on the bladder (as can straining) so she may be having leaks. Ot she may gave a chil. Nithing to bug a doctor about. It sounds like you are both being hypochondriacs and it's rubbing off on one another.

Pinkbonbon · 11/01/2020 16:58

*or she may have a chill

PittstopPenelope · 11/01/2020 17:05

Is it possibly changes due to ovulation?

Mine is quite cyclical. I had loads of swabs and tests done and they concluded that I just produce lots of discharge. If I don't go to the toilet and wipe regularly enough, it can build up and then sort of all releases at once and feels like I've peed a bit. It gets more and thicker around my period, and that's when I feel more need to pee more often, but it's always there to a lesser degree. It's very annoying! Panty liners are ideal for taking some of the stress of it away

Polly99 · 11/01/2020 17:07

Is she mid cycle? It could simply be that she has a lot of fertile cervical mucus this cycle. Feeling like she needs the loo might be due to pressure which can be part of ovulation .

Haworthia · 11/01/2020 17:07

It sounds like it could be fertile CM, which is totally normal.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 11/01/2020 17:08

@Pinkbonbon I can see how it might have been a little of an overreaction (looking back now) to take her to the doctors to the first time, but right now the problem is causing her discomfort so I don't think its unreasonable to go to the GP. she isn't constipated so I don't think she is having leaks. thank you :)

sleepismysuperpower1 · 11/01/2020 17:12

@Polly99 @Haworthia thank you, I didn't consider that. is it still worth taking her to the GP? She says there is a tingling sensation occasionally (not when she is going to the bathroom, just at random times.) @PittstopPenelope she isn't due her period until the end of this month

I would not see a GP, no, not unless she is in pain or itching or the discharge is smelly.

To me what you are describing sound like normal hormonal changes.

Pinkbonbon · 11/01/2020 20:41

Yeh I think polly is right on this one. If it was painful I would see the doctor again but what you are describing atm just sounds like her cycle adjusting itself

...being a woman is never comfortable! lol

sleepismysuperpower1 · 11/01/2020 20:49

@Pinkbonbon @Polly99 ok, thank you. I didn't end up calling 111 in the end, but I am still a little concerned it is a UTI. I think I will give it a day or 2 (does that sound a long enough period for it to finish adjusting?) and if it hasn't resolved book a GP appointment
