9wk old - Conjunctivitis?

Today my 9 week old ds has started with a watery eye and as the day has gone by it's getting very funky and looks sore.
Could this be conjunctivitis? Shall we try saline drops until we can ring a gp in the morning?

If you are BF, squirt some milk in the eye after each feed.
It works a treat!

I'm not bf but am still producing the tiniest amount.. shall I try catching it in a syringe and drop it on?

Cooled boiled water. Cotton wool wiping from inside to outside and don’t re-use the cotton wool. One ball per wipe.
My DD had it loads as a newborn. We did get the cream from the GP (rubbish as smeared off) and the drops (better but harder to put in)

Don’t put saline drops in. Cooled boiled water, clean cotton ball, dunk and sweep, then repeat with a new cotton ball. If you are producing enough milk, then just squirt/drop into eyes.

Is the eyeball bloodshot? If it is then it's conjunctivitis (aka pink eye). If the eyeball is clear it might actually be a sinus build up. My dc both had this a lot when they were little. They had small sinus cavities so any bit of a cold caused mucus to back up. Breast milk or cooled boiled water will work in either case but if it doesn't clear quickly it might need a different treatment from the gp.

Thanks everyone. He is sound asleep at the moment. When is best to do it? Awake and eyes open or when he is asleep?
Sorry 1st time mum and he was a preemie so worry about everything!

Do it when he's awake, but he'll close his eyes anyway when you wipe them.
It should improve in a couple of days, if not GP or health visitor will advise.
