Anybody any idea what's going on here? Little man has already been diagnosed with atopic eczema on his face and arms but this doesn't look the same and has flared up in the last few hours. So many opinions be it allergy/ heat spots etc. Super worried 😟

Also, anybody any advice for the eczema? Doctor has given AproDerm and it worked for a week or two and then stopped. DS is only 3 months so I'm not keen on using steroid creams unless we REALLLLY have to.

I feel so sad his skin is like this and those around me make me feel worse by making it seem as though it's my fault 😟😭

Will be booking yet another doctors appointment tomorrow but I'm sick of being fobbed off with 'it'll go away' and differences in doctors opinions. Considering seeing a dermatologist- is this too extreme?

OP I Have no experience of this but guess you Have been through washing powder considerations etc, what about any cream or perfume you use as the areas pictured are where you or others would have skin to skin contact? Hope you find some relief for him soon

My LO is 6 month old and she has also been diagnosed with severe eczema, which apparently can be brought on by cows milk so she is on another milk, but trying it for so long I don’t think this is the case, I just think she has very very sensitive skin.
We have tried EVERYTHING, all the creams from the doctors, steroid cream, antibiotics, nothing worked. Got recommended to use ‘dream cream’ from LUSH a few days ago and we wished we had done it earlier, it’s amazing!
Also, try keeping him as cool as possible as being to hot can aggravate the skin.
Her neck used to go like this from time to time.
Try not to worry about other people’s opinions, your obviously doing everything you can to help your LO!

Some people don’t understand how hard it is dealing with something like this, especially on your baby!

@Cindyloo20 thank you so much for that! Makes me feel like I'm not alone in this. Did see our GP (a different one) and she's given stronger steroid creams but will be keeping a close eye on him and she's given doublebase for us to try. Hopefully it works but I will be looking in to what you have suggested too Grin

I have been through all this: assuming he is drinking formula: keep changing the brand until u notice a difference. Does he eat solids? Wash clothes and sheets with surcare. Do u have a cat? Wash hands after u touch the cat. Can a 3 month old digest kefir yoghurts? Or other high good bacteria products? Think about gut health x x x

Oldiesrthebest · 10/01/2020 15:58

Ps looks like hives? Can he take anti histamines? And sudocreme will not cause any harm on that especially if he scratches x x

Google Tracy white homeopath as she specialises in eczema. My sons cleared.

Aveeno really helped my children’s eczema, I’ve heard A-Derma is good.
Keeping the skin as moisturised as possible is key as dry skin is more easily irritated. Try to keep his neck area dry as the skin in the folds can get easily irritated.
Use Aveeno bath oil to wash (can use as a cleanser as well as to soften the bath water).
Try to pat his skin dry rather than rub it.
Agree about keeping him as cool as comfortably possible, also central heating dries skin out.

I know it breaks your heart to see them scratching so young but it’s not your fault and you’re doing your best for him. Hopefully he will outgrow it.

Update: have seen a massive difference since using different creams, his skin is literally clear! Just a few dry patches! Thanks guys x

Which creams did you use in the end?

mamabear2409 · 06/02/2020 21:30

@YukoandHiro was given betnovate (I think that's the name) as a steroid cream to apply twice a day as well as double base as an emollient cream and using oilatum oil at bath times. It works tho he has had minor flare ups x
