Should I make DS a GPs appointment?

Since weaning DS (almost 2) has been on medication for constipation.

At the suggestion of the GP we took him off it just before Christmas as he was on such a low dose.
Since then he hasn't had a solid poop and a lot of it has been downright liquid.

We've just had to bath him as he'd pooped right up his back!
If it hadn't been going on for three weeks, and if it wasn't for the meds being recently withdrawn I wouldn't be massively concerned but I'm starting to think I might need to book him into the GP.
Am I overreacting?

I would definitely go back to the doctors

Winkywoop · 01/01/2020 19:09

Sounds like it could be overflow diarrhoea?

FairfaxAikman · 01/01/2020 19:47

Don't think it's overflow as he's pooping a large quantity up to four times a day!

Despite the quantity my money is still on overflow diarrhoea, it can be the cause of on going upset stomachs.

Winkywoop · 02/01/2020 17:45

What laxatives was he on?

Selfsettling3 · 02/01/2020 17:47

I would also say constipation and definitely see the GP

Winky Cosmocol paediatric.

He had a slightly more solid one today (as in still loose but not quite liquid) but there was some mucus in it

Due to the nature of that laxative I don't think it's likely to be related .The mucus is a bit concerning and I would get that checked more than likely will need to send off a stool sample .Any fever ,refusing to eat ,have you introduced any new foods recently ?Does your DS have any form of squash or any other sugar free foods /drinks ?

SpeedofaSloth · 02/01/2020 19:17

I'd make the appointment, yes. It sounds like it could be overflow to me, too.

FairfaxAikman · 03/01/2020 09:05

He had squash with the Cosmocol as it's unpalatable otherwise.

@FairfaxAikman the reason I asked about the squash is that sugar free squash contain sweeteners which act as a mild osmotic laxative but some people can be very sensitive and get diarrhoea .However as he was taking it at the same time as macrogol this obviously isn't the case .Hope you get to the bottom of this soon

Thanks. Got an appointment for Monday
