What is biting dd??

My dd (8) is getting bitten and I am really puzzled over what is biting her, wondered if anyone might be able to help! Here's what we know:

  • bites usually appear in the morning when first up
  • not frequent, maybe once a fortnight or less but has been going on for ages
  • usually 2-4 on torso although most recent on her calf
  • no one else in the house has been bitten at all (elder dd, 2 adults)
  • bites don't look like online pictures of bed bugs or fleas, they are bigger lumps and not small red bumps - more like mosquitos- but in the uk & it's winter
  • very itchy, not stingy or painful
  • have a cat but as above don't look like flea bites and no one else bitten
  • have been in a different house for a couple of weeks and she's just been bitten

Anyone got any ideas?

Spider bites?
If it is and you look at each bite closely, it will have two punctures per bite.

Honestly, the best thing you can do is deep clean her room. Move all furniture from walls clean under & behind. Take apart bed, clean the entire frame, under and behind. Take down any window treatments and clean. Take books off book shelves. I mean a deep deep clean. You will probably find whatever is biting her.

Not too sure what it could be, but think the other comment has nailed it with a deep deep clean. Addition to above hoover her mattress and maybe consider washing/changing any pillows/duvet in case bug or something has laid eggs.

Thanks both, was on that line of thinking until she got bitten in an entirely different house on the 3rd morning which led to my post. Maybe it travelled in her soft toys- she has soooo many- deep clean won't be fun!

Could you post a pic of the bites? It’s going to be some sort of beastie. They don’t always bite everyone.
But you’re probably going to have to do a deep clean including soft toys.
