Anyone else got a child that vomits all the time? Or medical professional who can give insight?

Dc is 3, this has been going on since starting properly on solids and stopping breastfeeding, around 14months, at first it was infrequent enough to not really notice, maybe once every 6-8 weeks. The past year it’s got very regular, weekly, during the summer this year it was 2-4 times a week, since sept it seemed to have settled down again and was 1-2 times a month, now we’re at once a week again.

Sometimes there seems to be triggers, fear, excitement etc, but other times it’s completely out of the blue, no explanation, no temp, no diarrhoea etc it’s often projectile when it happens and afterwards she’s fine. I’ve started to notice the vomiting is often but not always proceeded by a little cough and/or yawn.

She has seen a paed, who was not concerned but left an open ended appt if we need to go back, so I will be getting another appt, but they’ve done no tests whatsoever on her.

I’m wondering about cvs but also other issues relating to stomach valve or something not working correctly.

Anyone else had a child like this? What did it turn out to be? Has your child grown out of it?

Is it projectile? Normally if it's pyloric stenosis this is picked up much earlier.

Have you kept a food diary to see if it's after something in particular? What are their poos like?

Sorry I've read your post properly. If it's after a yawn/cough she could have a very sensitive gag reflex. I saw no diarrhoea - are her movements formed? Weight and everything ok?

Yes usually projectile, normal poos, normal weight. I have a gastrointestinal “abnormality” which although isn’t hereditary she could have it, which worries me I guess.

Yes I have twins one of whom had bad reflux as a baby which as a child had turned in to vomiting lots randomly...it has improved as she has got older though tends to be after eating late, excitement at family events like weddings etc. In addition she is often sick with illnesses that her sister gets but isn't sick with. She also coughs first.. she was prescribed gaviscon which she has nightly after an episode which seems to work. We did a food diary too but didn't identify anything...all in all it has got better as she has got older.. probably peaked at 4..she is 6 now.

Mine were both shocking vomiters. Not so much as babies but then a huge amount as toddlers and young children. I’m talking literally hundreds of vomiting episodes - about once a week for years. They both vomit when they are ill. Dd got UTIs and her first symptom was always vomiting. Ds just vomited for no reason. Both have been hospitalised for vomiting that they can’t stop (put on a drip and anti emetics). They have both grown out of it. Probably over the worst by about 8-10. It was a long haul but basically not serious in our case.
