Pharmacist for toddlers impetigo?

I'm pretty sure DS 2yrs has impetigo, poor little guy.
Annoyingly at our GP you have to queue up in the morning and then wait your turn to see the GP, first come first served. Last time with my (then) 5 day old baby I had to wait 2hrs for him to be seen..!

Anyway, I wondered if the pharmacist could diagnose him and prescribe cream/whatever. This way I don't have to haulk toddler and newborn to the GP and deal with the many meltdowns whilst they both wait in the waiting room.

Does anyone have any insight? I managed to take a rubbish photo if this helps.

I've suffered with this condition for the past 20 years I always have to have antibiotic cream prescribed by my GP apart from when I was on holiday this year in Cornwall and tesco pharmacy prescribed it due to it being a holiday destination.
I think it will be highly unlikely you'll get it especially if it's the first turn your child has had this.

Impetigo usually is yellow pus filled blisters tho this looks quite red so maybe a pharmacist could advise

I’m pretty sure you’ll have to see a GP

Unfortunately not. Most pharmacists could diagnose it but are unable to supply the treatment because it is prescription only. Ask your friends / relatives if anyone has a half used tube of Fucidin or Fucidin H cream in their cupboard, as that is normally the treatment. Alternatively if you didn’t want to wait and were happy to pay, try an online doctor, all the large pharmacy companies offer them put ‘online doctor Lloyd’s pharmacy’ into a search engine. In some parts of the country some pharmacies may offer it on an NHS scheme but these are few and far between. You would need to ring some local pharmacies to check.

O had trouble getting a GP appointment when DD had Impetigo, and was advised at one point by the receptionist to call 111 in the evening who sold then send us to out of hours. Managed to get a
Nurse appointment the next day so didn't have to resort to that.

I did try a pharmacist who said they couldn't prescribe (but confirmed it was Impetigo, not anything more serious)

Also my DD needed oral antibiotics not cream as it had spread to her arm. The cream is if it is contained in one area.

Thanks so much everyone.
Looks like it might be a trip to the GP armed with snacks and YouTube!
You have to get there at 7:30 to queue as it opens at 8.. such a shit system.

I think he'll need the tablet in that case around as I believe it's on his tummy too.

He's been picking at them so it's hard to know what they actually look like. Really don't want the newborn to catch it though!
