DD has been complaining of pain in her lower abdomen on and off for about a week. She’s not had any diarrhea, vomiting or fever and its not so painful that she is stopping her usual activities, more uncomfortable I think? its relieved by a hot water bottle and sitting quietly and made worse by lots of bouncing around.

She was treated for thread worms earlier in the week, but shes had the medication for that before with no ill effects?

Should I be booking an appointment with the GP? Or wait to see if it resolves itself?

Any constipation?

Could she be constipated?

Small dc often display signs of anxiety or tension through stomach aches. Whenever dd has on and off tummy ache we are able to pinpoint through chatter that she is nervous about something other. Having worked with youngsters at sleep away camps there is a habit of stomach aches on the first night or two which is always just a physical symptom of their feeling nervous about being away from home.

Could this be the case?

I did wonder this, she seems to be having regular movements but as she has recently become independent with toiletting she may have some issues I don’t know about. Think I might need to make her favourite prune cake just to make sure!

My ds was like this off and on for ages. Was finally diagnosed with constipation, he had regular bowel movements as well so not very obvious until he got the pains. The most common reason children get abdo pain is constipation and it can take a good while to get on top of it properly

Kids can seem to have regular movements but still be constipated - the new poo just works its way around the blockage.
