Headache and nosebleed

Ds is 5 and past week has told me going to bed his head hurts. I wasn't sure to believe him at first as we've had this before with tummy ache that he was copying off something he watched on kids tv.

He is very lively, running around all day and he has a huge appetite so I know he's well. But when he goes to bed he then tells me his head hurts, I questioned him tonight and he told me it doesn't hurt now but it will tomorrow? Now the more worrying thing is last night he woke with a nosebleed, no headache just a bloody nose. He's known for nosebleeds and over the years has had a few small ones but nothing to concern me.

I'm going to ring the doctors in the morning and get an appointment tomorrow. Like I said, he is fit and well and drinks / eats as normal.

Has anyone had any experience of this before, should I be concerned? I'm absolutely worried sick.

Also I'll just add, I took him for an eye test on Saturday and no problems there and everyone is healthy.

Hi OP

Regular headaches are bit unusual in a 5 year old, so it's definitely worth seeing the GP for this. There are lots of possible non-worrying explanations though -- maybe he's tired and doesn't know how to describe the feeling, maybe congested, maybe saying it for attention, etc.

Nosebleeds are generally nothing to worry about. My DS would have them often at this age. Usually at night and more frequently in the winter, probably because of dry central heated air and cold weather. He also tended to have them when he had a cold or fever. He's 10 now and has mostly grown out of it.

Thanks for replying BlackInk I'm steering towards attention seeking as he's kind of smiling when letting me know. It's a hard one but I've booked him in for a check up today and see how we go.

Recent nasal flu vaccine up nose by any chance? Symptoms sound similar to kuds in dd's class post vaccine.

He had the vaccine about a month ago. His appointment is now in the morning due to a mix up. He's absolutely fine in his self and it's not stopped his appetite. I just don't know what to think as he tells me his head doesn't hurt only when he goes somewhere but then it doesn't hurt Confused. I don't think he knows himself 🙄
