Flavoured milk

totallyradllama · 17/11/2019 14:40

Oh sorry I see you said "bottle" is she a baby?

Kirsty03 · 17/11/2019 14:43

I meant sippy cups or her straw bottle and wasn’t sure if I could put it in milk if it clogged it up and she still get her cows milk in her bottle at night time before bed hard getting her off it

I used the plain ones and mixed it with sugar free squash / Ribena etc

Kirsty03 · 17/11/2019 14:47

Yeah she on the plain ones and I’ve been doing that for a while but now she won’t touch it with it in

I mix dd’s (4) with yoghurt or those little petit filous chocolate/vanilla desserts then nag her to drink lots of water/weak squash ice lollies.

It’s not perfect but it’s the only way to get the stuff in her at the moment. Seems to work fine as long as I keep the fluids going in. Ds’s dr is taking the ‘she’ll grow out of it’ approach so she’s a long term user of movicol. Needs must and all that.

She’s getting a mr frosty for Christmas and I’m contemplating spiking that!

totallyradllama · 17/11/2019 17:19

How old is she? Maybe you should ask your health visitor. Can you ring them?

nopenotplaying · 17/11/2019 18:06

I put it in a glass of juice/cordial made a touch stronger than normal

Kirsty03 · 17/11/2019 18:07

She almost 2 had this problem since 6 months but it’s gradually getting worst and making sure she has a balance diet aswell and just keep getting ignored about it saying just keep trying her with the powders

How about asking for the chocolate flavoured version?

Bessiebigpants · 17/11/2019 18:14

You can mix it in jelly or freeze into lollies I personally have tried all the flavours and chocolate one is very palatable pop it in chocolate milk and child would be none the wiser

Cornettoninja · 17/11/2019 18:15

Another option is to ask for lactulose for a bit. If I remember rightly that’s a syrup so you could Administer the same way as calpol etc. Again drinking plenty is the key. Warm drinks are also more helpful than cold I’ve found.

Cornettoninja · 17/11/2019 18:19

The dr will be inclined to use stool softeners/laxatives because in the absence of any other symptoms it’s likely down to an immature digestive system and will resolve.

As I said dd is 4 and started on movicol around the same age as your dd. The dr still isn’t interested in investigating (even though it’s caused no end of issues with toilet training Hmm). I think the magic number is 7 for investigating but you could ask for a dietician appointment.

Eric is a good website for childhood constipation.

We put ours in Smoothies

Chugchugtraintrain · 17/11/2019 18:22

We mix with a little bit of water and an equal amount of orange juice.

Sunnybeans · 17/11/2019 18:22

I mix my dd's in with a touch of water to dissolve and then give in normal cow's milk. She has a sachet morning and night. This has been the only way we've ever had any success as she won't touch juice or flavoured milk
