Chickenpox...how long will it last?

DD7 got her first spot on Tuesday morning. Thought it was a bite.
by bedtime she had lots all over her body and about 3 on her face.
She's woken up today (Wednesday) covered. And all day there's been more and more appearing.
She's so miserable, itchy and has swollen glands which are hurting too. Just been up to see her and her eye is a bit swollen, she has one appearing on the edge of her lower eyelid

I just want to cry for her, she's had piriton, she's had Calpol, she's covered in calomine lotion and I don't know what else to do.

How long does the itchiness last?

And then I have to wait and see if my 11yr old gets them too and go through it all again. :(

Generally spots arrive thick and fast the first 2/3 days then tail off 4/5 they scab over and then it’s all done!! Hopefully.

So fingers crossed after tomorrow she'll start to feel a bit better.

Fingers crossed. I know there can be a lot of scary stories about hellish CP but the reality is that for most Children CP is a normal and mild illness. Hopefully it will be the case for your wee one.

She seems a bit perkier today.

The only ones she's complaining about is her bits, a big one on her back which looks red and angry and I'm keeping an eye on, and her eye.

She seems to have developed 3 small ones along her lower eyelash line. Looked in her eye and they're not inside but she looks like she has conjunctivitis without the gunkiness.

Chicken pox in the eye can be dangerous, I’d phone GP and explain as she might have to see an ophthalmologist.

She's going to the GP this afternoon to look at her eye. She didn't seem overly concerned on the phone just asked if I thought it was infected and after umming suggested she come in to have it looked at.

My ds had a pox on each lower eye lid too they didn't become angry looking and he was fine, healed the same as the rest of them. If she's still itchy try an oat bath, very soothing on the skin.

Gp said the one on her eye was infected so she's on anti biotics.

I think she's over the worst. Not as itchy and they're starting to dry out and some scabbed over.

From first spot to all being scabbed over was about 7 days for dd. A bit longer for ds.
I found the spots in the nappy area to take the longest to scab as that area isn't being aired as much.
