8mo sore bum acidic poo

My 8 month old had a really sore bum a week ago, to the point of it bleeding. Went to doctor who gave Dactacort, I believe a steroid cream, it cleared up eventually, but she's just woke in agony, has had a poo and we're back to square one, her poor bum is bleeding sore. Is this likely teething related or due to diet? I've stayed away from anything acidic since the last bout

Teething I bet, I would make sure you do lots of nappy free time and when in a nappy cover bum with metanium and sudacrem combined

I've not tried combining them, thanks I'll try that. She's in horrendous pain being changed, has been totally fine for about 6 days, and bam one poo and it's a state again

Keep a food diary, any rash around the face/mouth? My ds had mild allergies to bloody loads of stuff. Easy to identify as only introduced a single new food every few days - nothing 'bought' - just single items. Grew out of all of it, but has mouth rash then bot rash later. Hopefully not allergies, but something to easily rule out.

Teething causing poo issues is a common misconception. Teething has nothing to do with acidic or runny poos. It will be diet or illness related. Hope it clears up soon

This works for my DS.

We had to see a baby dermatologist for our dd's nappy rash (that's a thing in the health service where we life where you only use your gp for referrals and then see a specialist for everything). We were advised to wash her with soap and water after every poo which I thought was just ridiculous advice but it was transformative and we've gone from having nappy rash so bad that i thought she was going to end up scarred to having absolutely nothing! The science is that there is a chemical reaction that happens on the skin when urine and faeces are combined. We literally saw an improvement within hours and continue to do this to this day using reusable wet wipes. She also said to use bepanthen but since the soaping started we've only ever needed a bit ofsudacrem if we aren't quick enough at catching that she's pooped or burts bees ointment as a lovely barrier. Good luck - nappy rash is horrible to see and it felt far from trivial when we were dealing with it even though very one around us just kept saying it was normal!

This is a common symptom of food allergies. Egg and milk are two of the common allergies, but there are lots.
