I’ll give the background story... I posted the other day about a red mark on 7 month DS’s face and general opinion was that it was ringworm. I took him to the pharmacy and was told it was indeed ringworm and was given anti fungal cream. I put this on him for a few days and the red mark has grown and become scabby and today upon waking he has several blistery red spots all over his body, some of which are in clusters and look similar to eczema, and the mark on his face was looking even worse. I took him to the GP who was useless, he had no idea what the mark on his face was and prescribed a steroid cream to try. He said the spotty rash on his body probably means he’s coming down with a cold?! Anyway since then DS became really distressed, crying and his temp rose to 38.6 and that was after calpol so I took him to A&E. They were unsure what it is but believe this mark on his face is impetigo and that’s what’s making him poorly and have a temperature. They said the rash on his body is his body reacting to being unwell. He has been prescribed antibiotics for a week which I have to give him in a syringe but he either clamps his mouth shut or spits it all out. He is coughing, sneezing, seems very upset and lethargic but his temp is coming down now. I have attached a photo of both the mark on his face and an example of what the rash on his body is like (pic is of his wrist). Does this look like impetigo to you? I’m being told completely different things and hate seeing him unwell like this.

It could in theory be complete coincidence. My little ones often got random spotty rashes when they were ill. Equally, sometimes the healing process can itself make things look worse, particularly if scab starts forming.

My daughter once had a horrible rash on her leg that lasted about a month. Tried every cream the doctor could think off - then over a few days it just went. Sadly with rashes, often no one really knows and it's just a game of trial and error.

Hand foot and mouth.

Sorry missed the bit about being on his body.
Could still be though. Are there any in his mouth or nappy area?

Nappy area yes, it looks like nappy rash but it’s not because it just suddenly appeared yesterday. We’ve been to A&E again today as he deteriorated even more and went all limp. They couldn’t see any spots in his mouth but he won’t have the bottle whatsoever and flinches if he tries so he either has a sore throat or there’s something bothering him in his mouth. He’s only had tiny sips of water all day and 6oz milk which he then projectile vomited in A&E. I’m terrified of him getting dehydrated. He’s had a few sips of water overnight. His voice is so hoarse so I assume his throat is hurting. The rash is now all over his body. A&E couldn’t conclude what it is!
